Use the Start menu to open a folder.

Normally you open a folder by double-clicking its icon. Sometimes locating the icon for the folder you want to open may be inconvenient. For example, if you are working in a maximized application, you might not want to minimize it just to open a folder.

To open a folder using the Start menu:
  1. Click Start.
  2. From the Start menu, select Run.
  3. Type the full pathname of the folder you want to open.

  4. Click OK.

Hint
For example, to open the Windows folder, enter C:\Windows

When specifying folders with long filenames, surround the full pathname with quotes.

For example, C:\My Documents is entered as "C:\My Documents". Click here for more information about long and short filenames.
